This year Sebastian decided he wanted to start a new New Year's tradition and go to the beach at sunset. We went to a spot the kids love and I set up a tripod to take a family photo right at sunset. Sebastian pulled out his mate and gave the kids some hot coco he had prepared.
The boy's were jumping around on the rocks. For Sebastian this was an emotional moment. He had just been hired by Allergan a few days earlier and was still unloading all of the emotions from being unemployed for 11 months. It had not been easy but he did it with such grace that I can only hope to do as well at life as he does. So, as he watched the sun set he was trying to let all of those hard feelings wash away with 2009. How lucky he entered 2010 with a job.
So, the sun is set and I want my photo. I get everyone to sit and then hit the time button and run to my spot. This happens about 6-8 times, of course, trying to get it right. I corrected Alec's look, big mistake, now he is really mad and doesn't want to participate. The boy's start twitching at each other and yelling. Sebastian stepped away for a second to collect himself, from getting mad that we can't just take a simple photo. All I want is this photo. So finally everyone decides to fake it as best they can and wow did we get a good photo.
